Snug & Outdoor worked closely with local community groups and schools to engae and consult with as many local people as possible over many months. We worked with a local special school throughout the design process to ensure maximum accessibility and to ensure that the needs of children with learning, emotional and physical disabilities were part of the overall scheme.
Modelling and poetry workshops were held to allow students to create their own creative and playful structures, and to explore their feelings about what play means to them.
More than 300 children and adults turned out for a summer funday and picnic, where they were able to parcipate in play activities and discussions around the initial designs. The Wisbech Adventure Playground was finally opened by the Mayor of Wisbech in May, 2011.
